Coffee Strong will be reopening soon at 15107 Union Ave SW in Lakewood, next-door to our previous location. By doubling in size, we’ll now have space for:
- Onsite office space for staff (previously located 15 minutes away from Coffee Strong)
- Meeting rooms for private conversations with veterans and service members in crisis
- Expanded library of GI Rights fact sheets and veterans benefits information
- Greater visibility with a street-facing business and more signage opportunities
We’ll also be taking live calls off the GI Rights Hotline, re-orienting our volunteers from making espresso to helping veterans and service members, and holding more social and educational gatherings to build our community of anti-war veterans and service members.
While we wait for the City of Lakewood to approve our new business license, we’ll continue to provide support and community for veterans and service members. Our veterans benefits counselors have continued our weekly drop-in clinic, temporarily relocated at Traditions Cafe in Olympia on Fridays from 10am to 2pm. Service members needing help with rights, discharges and other help can call the GI Rights Hotline (1-800-FYI-95GI) to get help from a GI Rights counselor at Coffee Strong.
In order to prepare for our reopening and expansion, our volunteers at Coffee Strong have spent the past month increasing our skills on topics ranging from suicide prevention, helping service members get out of the military, and veterans benefits assistance. We look forward to announcing our reopening soon!
