Intern with Coffee Strong: Help Soldiers and Veterans and Challenge Militarism
Coffee Strong is a coffeehouse and resource center near Joint Bases Lewis-McChord by and for service members and veterans. At Coffee Strong, service members can get help applying for discharges, filing grievances and complaints, and referrals to other non-governmental organizations for medical, mental health or legal problems. We also help veterans qualify and apply for benefits like healthcare, disability and education.
Outside of Coffee Strong we seek to educate the community about the impacts and costs of war by speaking to high school students about our military experiences, and bringing a veteran presence to the broader peace and justice movement.
We are seeking interns for Spring, Summer and Fall quarters in 2013 to help with:
- Fundraising
- Communications (especially social media)
- Research
- Administration
Hours and location of work are flexible. We have room for you at our office behind our outreach center in Lakewood, or you can work at home and come in weekly for meetings. We are also very willing to accommodate specific interests and areas prospective interns would like to develop skills in. If you are interested, or for more information or questions, please contact Alex Bacon at alex@givoice.org or 253-581-1565.
